Q: Do CITC on-line courses reciprocate to other states?

A: Yes, in some states. To see which states accept CITC on-line courses, select the state where you need CEU credit and scroll to see which courses are accepted.

Q: What courses are available?

A: To see available courses and descriptions click on the state where you need CEU credit, then scroll down to see available courses in your trade.

Q: How do I enroll for an on-line course?

A: After selecting the course(s) in which you'd like to enroll in the State where you're licensed, enter your credit card and billing information (Visa or MasterCard only).  Once payment is complete, you'll receive an authorization code allowing you to access the newly purchased course(s).  Before entering the authorization code, you'll be required to set-up a student profile (including name, address, contact phone number, email address, and password).  After creating the student profile, enter the authorization code(s) for the course(s) then start your course.

Q: What is the format of CITC online classes?

A: The courses are comprised of 100-200 multiple choice questions based on the current code, code amendments, or other topics related to the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC fields.

Q: What books or materials are required?

A: Some courses provide all the content needed. However, for code classes and classes on state rules you will need either:

  • Electrical – 2008 National Electric Code book and a copy of the current state rules/regulations (if applicable) 
  • Plumbing – 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code book and a copy of the current state rules/regulations (if applicable) 
Q: How long do I get to complete the course?

A: From the date of entering the authorization code, you have one year to complete the course.

Q: What score do I need to pass the course? How many tries do I get to pass?

A: You must answer all the questions and receive a score of 70% or better to get credit and receive a certificate. You can attempt to pass a course as many times as necessary to receive a passing score.

Q: When will my Continuing Education credits be reported to my state?

A: CITC will send confirmation to the appropriate state department within 1-5 business days after completion of a course.  Depending on the State, CITC sends course completions via the Internet, email, or fax.
