Trainee Requirements

Electrical Trainees

A new WA State rule, WAC 296-46B-970(2)(g), requires electrical trainees to have 8 hours of classroom training per year prior to renewing their trainee card. Internet and correspondence courses are not allowed. The new program, "Basic Classroom Electrical Training," affects any trainee renewing after July 1, 2007. From July 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007 renewing trainees will need 8 hours of state approved training. Thereafter, 16 hours will be required prior to renewing.

Electrical Trainees -- every year you are required to have:

  • Category 1 = Basic Classroom Electrical Training, 8 hours

Plumber Trainees

Plumber trainees must have 8 hours of CEU credit per year to renew. Beginning July 1, 2006, all plumbers or trainees must complete 8 hours of plumbing code update or 4 hours of industry-related electrical and 4 hours of industry-related plumbing each year.

Plumbing Trainees -- every year you are required to have:

  • Category 1 = Plumbing Code, 8 hours
    or
  • Category 2 = Industry-Related Electrical, 4 hours
  • Category 3 = Industry Related, 4 hours
